Bibliomania

I know there are many bibliophiles out there who would be horrified
at the thought of disposing of their hoarded
' treasures ',
but that is what I am in the process of doing.
House renovations mean lots of sorting and rearranging and
rediscovering of forgotten
' STUFF ' .
I have books stashed in every room and every spare corner and the time has come to make breathing space and learn to let go! The beneficiaries will be my local library, family history group and charity shops.
Ingloriously piled now in boxes and plastic bags they will move on to hopefully enrich other lives.
Of course I still harbour the
' Important Stuff '...
that which I cannot bring myself to part with !
They will survive until the next cleanout.

I can totally relate. When I got tired of the teetering stacks scattered about, I made a vow to not have more books than I have bookshelves for (I have many!), and for every new book I brought into the house, I needed to weed another one out. I've *mostly* been able to stick to that - I only have one extra pile right now by my bedside, waiting to be read.

The thing that has saved me was discovering used books stores that gave 'credit' for turning in books (that could be turned around to buy MORE books - but fewer than the amount I turned in..) It's an ongoing cycle - but at least the books stay moving and mostly off my floor! :-)

I too *stash* books in every room.I cannot part with these piles each organized as an irresistable invitation to sit and relax.I do take
books to a local book exchange and try
to keep the *breathing space* controlled. Now its about the scattered
books on the floor in my office..

What gogeous birds you have visit your garden! I couldn`t even begin to imagine finding one here...they are so beautiful! As for books.....I know the feeling. I need a room full of walls for them all.
